Hyperhidrosis Explained

by Dean Heller MD November 30th, 2012 | Ask the Doctor
I am 20 years-old and doing great in college; however, I have a tough time meeting girls because I am so worried about a condition that I have.  I have been to a dermatologist for this problem, but the treatments they have given me so far have not worked at all. What I have is a problem with excessive sweating of my hands. When I am dancing with a girl, or even around them at all, I have to hold my hands behind my back, so they don't grab them.  I am so embarrassed that I have just been

Heart Health and Grass Fed Beef

by Kimberly Hays November 29th, 2012 | Heart Health
When it comes to heart health, we all try to make sound choices. This means that diabetes contributed to a total of 231,404 deaths." In order to avoid developing type 2 diabetes, an exercise program should become a priority in each person's life.  Think about it

My mother came in for Thanksgiving this week. She has only been here one day, and her cough is worse than ever.  She has been smoking for 40 years. She says she goes to her doctor regularly, but I am still concerned about lung cancer, because of so many years of smoking.  Is there any health screening to see if she has lung cancer?  This constant hacking really has me worried.

This is a great question that most doctors can not answer today.  The truth is that historically there has not been a good screening test, as with most tests
